Conservation Village

Scarborough is a small seaside village in the Western Cape, part of the City of Cape Town, lying at the edge of the Cape Point Nature Reserve. It’s bordered by steep mountains (Slangkop, Red Hill) on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other.

In April 1996 it was officially declared a conservation village — meaning that its boundaries are fixed, development is tightly controlled, and preserving biodiversity, natural landscapes and rural character are priorities.
